A trained sculptor from an early age, it is no wonder the work by the late,
great Azzedine Alaïa is so often referred to as modern art for the female form.
With an acute understanding of balance, proportion and the intricacies of design, the Tunisian born couturier was revered the world over for his ability to create the most flattering, sensual silhouettes that would prove, in time, to be completely immune to aging.
His work sat at the crossroads of craftsmanship and innovation, consistently pushing the boundaries of what was thought to be technically possible, whilst challenging traditional ideas of femininity. In the words of his long-time muse, Naomi Campbell, "No other dress can make a woman look and feel as good as an Alaïa dress."
Alaïa's great work spanned many decades, and the fashion world mourned, when he died in late 2017. Since his passing, Alaïa's legacy continues to be celebrated through new collections from the Maison in a perfectly sympathetic, yet progressive style - just the way he would have liked it.
Today, with the visionary Pieter Muller at the creative helm, we wait with bated breath for the doubtlessly incredible, and equally iconic creations that are just around the corner...

ABOUT THE 'EDITIONS' COLLECTION
“In a gesture to devotees of the late, great Azzedine Alaïa — and in a bid to recruit future ones — the maison that bears his name [has launched] a wardrobe of his most emblematic designs, called Editions.” - WWD
The looks span from 1981 to 2017, in a tribute to Tunisian-born Alaïa’s incredible legacy, and after launching in November 2020, has enjoyed constant sell-out success around the globe.
The ultimate homage is paid with new styles each season, spanning leather goods, t-shirts, belts, dresses, trousers, trenches and leggings - each marked with their year of origin.
EDITION 2016 | THE FLARED DRESS IN OPENWORK STRETCH KNIT
This stretch knit sweetheart-neckline dress revisits an iconic Alaïa silhouette. It has short sleeves and a fitted cut, which flares out into a skater skirt.
Along its edges, a lace-effect jacquard "Vienne" motif reveals a hint of a skin. Formed from circles and triangles, this openwork graphic detail is part of the Maison's aesthetic vocabulary.
First introduced in 1992, it was inspired by Arabo-Andalsian art and the Alhambra gardens for which Azzedine Alaïa has developed a passion during a stay in Grenada.
EDITION 2007 | THE FLARED DRESS IN COTTON CRINOLINE
Made in cotton, this short-sleeved dress features a delicate interplay of textures, transparency and details; a variety of stitches, lace panels, a multitude of small ruffles, and 3D-effect geometric motifs.
Fitted at the waist, it flares out in a short, pleated skirt. In homage to 18th-century crinoline dresses, crinoline strips were inserted into its skirt to create flowing volume.
EDITION 2004 | THE GODDESS DRESS IN JERSEY
This short dress is made in a flowing interlocking jersey, structured entirely by a sophisticated play of draping.
Inspired by the goddesses of Ancient Greece, it features a plunging neckline and cut-outs on the sides revealing a sensual glimpse of skin.
Its mocked waist with elastic ties hugs and enhances the body's curves.
Alaïa's ready-to-wear demonstrates exceptional know-how through meticulously sculpted pieces, in innovative or elevated materials.
EDITION 1992 | THE BUCKET CORSET BAG 19
A nod to the 1992 Alaïa bucket bag, the Bucket Corset bag boasts a unique an timelessly elegant look.
Fasteend with a drawstring and equipped with a removable shoulder strap, it comes in four colours.
A blend of flexibility and structure, it combines the purity of a smooth leather with the technical signature perforated "Vienne" motif.
