The Lunar New Year Edit - FARADAYS
LunarNewYearEditorial

Symbolic of peace, prosperity and longevity in Chinese culture, the Year of the Rabbit is fast approaching, welcomely predicted to be a year of positivity, protection and hope.

Its moment occurring once every twelve years, the rabbit is accompanied by eleven other animals in the Chinese Zodiac, and each equally loveable creature comes with its own set of characteristics,

tendencies and preferences - informing their authentically individual aesthetic, alongside all other aspects of life.

In celebration of Lunar New Year this coming Sunday 22 January, we've rounded up twelve distinct edits to suit each of the animals in the Zodiac.

Read on to find out what your birth year means for you, and what you'll find at Faradays to suit your star-destined-style.

Rabbit | Refined and elegant

1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023

When it comes to their sartorial nature, the tender-hearted rabbit favours timelessness and elegance in its wardrobe choices, a reflection of their considerate and intelligent character - think refined classics, beautiful cuts, and ageless silhouettes designed to stand the test of time.

During the Year of the Rabbit, to ensure good luck, those born during this year are encouraged to wear and be surrounded by all things red.

Dragon | Cutting edge and contemporary

1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024

Naturally drawn to statement-making pieces, powerful, courageous dragons express themselves through fashion-forward pieces that start conversations, whether via the wardrobe or the home.

Not one to worry about blending in, their bold approach to style is accompanied by a kind and generous heart, enjoying gifting to others as much as (if not more than) they do when treating themselves.

Snake | Sensual and sophisticated

1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025

Equal parts sage and alluring, the snake is a fan of only the most ultra luxe, ultra high quality pieces that flatter and enhance the figure, and for the home - it's all about setting the mood.

Intuitive and enigmatic, the snake knows what works for their shape, and is not afraid to show it.  Old souls at heart, they're fabulous friends to have around as their oozing self-confidence is infectious, inadvertently lifting up all of those they interact with.

Horse | The high achiever in athleisure

1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026

High-spirited and energetic, the fun-loving horse tends to be the life of every party without even trying.

Favouring comfortable, everyday basics that don't hold them back from their ever-long to-do lists, their ideal wardrobe looks like a high fashion take on athleisure for day, and minimalist, silk PJ separates for night.

Calming scents with notes of lavender and sweet pea support their fantastically active minds when they need to recharge.

Goat | Always the freshest, an embracer of trends

1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027

Kind and popular, the feeling of community is important to the goat, making them fond of the latest and the greatest - they enjoy playing a part in any global collective consciousness.

Their creative nature ensures the key pieces they select are worn and displayed in their own unique way, whilst still being a part of the pack.

Monkey | A lover of colour, and all things nostalgic

1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028

Witty and intelligent, the Monkey is innately curious.

In line with this, they love to connect the past with the present through their sartorial choices, favouring colourful, vintage inspired pieces that ignite conversation.

Cleverly mixing archival finds with more current pieces, off-duty days look like band tees, denim and retro sneakers, and for dressier affairs, it's all about colours, textures and patterns - anything but black.

Rooster | Classic with a twist

1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029

The rooster has an earnest and no-fuss approach to life, without taking it too seriously.

Roosters favour pieces that promise to work hard for years to come, so long as they have a unique twist, to express the wearer's intrinsic charm and flair.

For the wardrobe, think timeless Louboutins with their red-lacquered soles, Puzzle bags in multi-tones, and anything from Alexandre Vauthier.

For the home, Saved NY cashmere offers the perfect marriage of long lasting quality with quirky and fanciful prints.

Dog | A favourer of function over form

1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030

The least materialistic animal in the Chinese Zodiac, the dog possesses all of the lovely traits you'd expect - patience, sincerity, loyalty and optimism.

When it comes to the home and wardrobe, they look for versatile, hard working pieces that are made with care.  Artisanal, hand-crafted and environmentally thoughtful, the things they surround themselves with must serve a purpose and have that feel good factor.

Pig | Logo lover

1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031

Symbolic of sincerity and indulgence, the sociable and hard-working pig is a noble character, representing prosperity, peace, and generosity.

Never afraid to share their love for coveted brands, logomania is the vibe for both interiors and their sense of fashion - and the harder to find, the better.

Rat | Sleek and fashion forward

1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020, 2032

The official first sign of the Zodiac, it makes sense that the rat is always ahead of the curve when it comes to fashion.

Intelligent, social and very hard working, the rat favours all things sleek and chic - all-black-everything, mixed with heavy hardware and sharp, tailored lines.

For the home, it's modern and minimalistic - monochrome tones with touches of glass, metallics and luxurious textures.

Ox | Timeless and feminine

1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021, 2033

Peaceful, kind and incredibly reliable, the Ox's softly spoken nature comes thorugh in timeless, feminine form with their everyday attire.

Rather than paying attention to trends, they know what they love (and what suits their figure best), sticking to tried and true staples they know they'll return to time and again.

The hard-working Ox would do well to put their well-heeled feet up every now and then - after all, they deserve it.

Tiger | Bold and charismatic

1938, 1950, 1962,  1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022

Confident and courageous, the ambitious tiger isn't afraid of making a statement in every area of their life - whether in decorating their home, choosing an outfit, or in the way they approach their work.

Feeling most at home in bold animal prints, luxe, rich tones and unique silhouettes, tigers inspire others to dare to go beyond their comfort zones through their fabulous and flamboyant approach to life.
